40

On the other day, my mom found this among my childhood stuff, and it instantly made me smile. Seems like the perfect treasure to look at and share on the day I'm turning 40. I have no idea how old I was when I made this, nor remember it, but it sends me back to the kind of kid I was, shy and quiet, always busy with something in my hands or head, wanting to make things. I remember having this textile crafts book and finding comfort in some pictures that showed a certain wool's texture, or loving the repetition of some embroidery patterns and feel inspired by them. I remember some stories I wrote, and never showed to anyone, that I thought would become a book someday. I remember the Women who taught me those things I wanted to learn, that later became my craft, to whom I'm forever grateful.
After being a Mother myself, I have been kind of busy recovering some parts of who I am. First it was the Woman, the Artist, the Daughter... I feel that lately I've been also looking for the Child I was (and am). I may have forgotten a lot of those times, but now I know that life hasn't changed me that much and I still keep that little girl inside me after so many years... maybe not so creative, light-hearted or free, but definitely still dreamy and quiet and happy about the little things...
