Lately

Julho costuma ser um mês de muito trabalho, e este ano não é excepção (e sinto-me grata!). Aproveito os dias em que tenho a Nina comigo para abrandar e passear um pouco, e os desenhos que preciso de fazer para me divertir. Este Verão-Outono tem atrasado mais a praia, da qual sinto muita falta, mas há dias fomos, mesmo com um dia cinzento cheio de nevoeiro, e soube mesmo bem, a praia estava vazia, o mar estava prateado, e fartámo-nos de apanhar pedrinhas, brincar na areia e respirar aquela maresia que tanto me faz bem. Nas agulhas de tricot, mais uma destas, para fazer nas noites mais frescas. Ensinei a Nina a bordar, e fiquei surpreendida com o interesse e o empenho dela. Espero assim dar-lhe mais uma ferramenta que lhe possa ser útil no futuro: empoderá-la com o saber fazer algo com as mãos, mostrar-lhe um meio terapêutico de abrandamento, de conexão e expressão pessoal, e ensinar-lhe o valor do que é feito devagar para uma forma de vida mais sustentável.

July is usually a busy month and this year is not an exception (and I'm grateful). I've taken advantage of the days I have Nina with me to slow down and walk a little, and the sketches I need to do to have some fun. This Summer-Fall has delayed beach time, and I miss it a lot, but the other day we went there despite the fog and grey, and it felt really good. The beach was empty, the ocean was silver, and we had a great time picking pebbles, playing in the sand, and inhaling that sea air that makes me so good. On my knitting needles, another one of these, to make on cooler evenings. I taught Nina how to embroider, and I was surprised with her enthusiasm and effort. I hope this way to give her another useful tool for the future: empower her with know how to make something with her own hands, show her a therapeutic means of slowing down, self connection and expression, and teach her the value of slow made for a more sustainable lifestyle.

Countdown for vacations has already begun, but there's still so much to do. Just b-r-e-a-t-h-e...
