Depois de semanas a fio com chuva incessante, Janeiro trouxe finalmente o sol de Inverno, aquele que me dá alento para suportar o frio e acreditar que um dia, não muito distante, a natureza vai acordar. Mais do que um novo recomeço, sinto que Janeiro nos congela no tempo, para nos obrigar a desacelerar, a sistematizar os hábitos que tanto queremos manter ou implementar, e a esquecer de vez o ano que passou. É como uma pausa para balanço, mais longa do que a meia dúzia de dias que normalmente estamos dispostos a perder para esse efeito. A cada ano que passa sinto que é um mês decisivo para me manter à tona, e viver os que se seguem com mais ou menos leveza. Sem dúvida que este sol reconfortante é uma grande ajuda, tal como os passeios pela natureza, pela cidade, ou os momentos de recolhimento no calor das mantas, a tricotar ou a desenhar, com o gato no colo.

After many weeks of endless rain, January finally brought the Winter sun, the one that gives me courage to endure the cold and believe that, one day, not too far away, nature will awake. More than a new beginning, I feel that January freezes us in time, forcing us to slow down, to systematize the habits that we wish to keep or implement so badly, and to forget the past year once for all. It's like a pause for balance that ends up being longer than the half dozen days we're usually willing to spend for that purpose. With each passing year, I feel that this is a decisive month for me to stay afloat and to live the ones that follow with more or less lightness. This comforting sunshine is such a great help, as are the walks in nature and around the city, or the quiet cosy moments under the blankets, knitting or drawing, with the cat on my lap.
