Estes colares foram inspirados nas bolsas medicina usadas pelas tribos nativas da América, e tudo começou com uma vontade muito grande de fazer uma para mim, para transportar um objecto com significado espiritual, como um cristal ou outro amuleto. Quando era adolescente usava uma bolsa de couro ao peito com esse fim, e há tempos encontrei-a, e essa memória foi muito forte e especial, permitindo-me resgatar uma parte de mim que estava esquecida. Desta vez quis fazer algo inteiramente à mão, com retalhos de tecidos, em que o acto de coser e bordar fosse, só por si, parte dessa medicina que habita nas nossas mãos, pelo seu carácter meditativo e intencional. Gostei muito do resultado e de todo o processo, e por isso acabei por fazer uma para a Nina e outra para uma amiga. Podem ver estas primeiras bolsas na última foto.
Entretanto, criei um conjunto de bolsinhas medicina para a Loja, e a cada colar dei o nome de um elemento da natureza, bordado na parte de trás: Água, Terra, Ar e Fogo. O fundo é feito em tecido de lã, e o trabalho de patchwork foi feito com pequenos pedaços de tecidos variados, aplicados e bordados de forma lenta e intuitiva. Todos têm um cordão em algodão, que permite regular o comprimento do colar à medida de cada um.
Estas peças têm também em si a minha intenção de criar objectos mais sustentáveis, resultantes de restos de tecidos de outras peças têxteis.

These necklaces were inspired by medicine bags used by Native American tribes, and all started with a longing for making one for myself, to carry a spiritual object, like a crystal or any other kind of amulet. As a teenager, I used to carry a leather bag on my neck with the same purpose, and some time ago I found it, which allowed me to recover that strong and special memory and that part of myself that seemed to be forgotten. This time, I wanted to make something entirely by hand, with fabric scraps, where the acts of sewing and embroidering were, by themselves, part of that medicine that lives in our hands, for its meditative and intentional feature. I loved the result so much that I ended up making another one for Nina and one for a friend. You can see these former bags on the last picture.
Meanwhile, I made a set of medicine necklace bags for the Shop, and gave each one the name of an element of nature, embroidered on the back: Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
The background is made of wool fabric, and the patchwork was made of tiny scraps of fabrics, fixed by a slow and intuitive stitching. They have a cotton cord that allows you to adjust the length of the necklace to suit your taste.
These items also carry my intention to create more sustainable objects, made from the remnants of fabrics of other textile pieces.
